Tifa jumped backwards out of the way, but was grazed as the bolt scraped her arm, which had been outwards at a funny angle. 15 HP damage taken. I really have to work on my gymnastics I'm getting rather rusty these days, but I guess that's what battles are for ^^

Seeing Jechtael curled up in a ball ready to launch another attack, Tifa pulled out a green materia and cast cure (basic), raising her HP back up by 5 HP in the hope that it might offset some of the damage from the graze. Spell cost- 5 MP.

Releases tier 2 Icen spell at Tifa's feet, and leaps forward to strike. 65 HP direct hit, 25 HP graze, and, if the spell was effective, a knockback effect from any contact, weapon or not.

Oooooh!!!! Tifa suffers 65 HP damage and knockback effect. Hopefully shouldn't set me back too much though.

Tifa leaps forward for a Dolphin Kick, which uses 5 HP since it's a powered move, inflicting 60 HP if direct hit, 30 HP graze.

(OOC I thought I'd start using more signature moves, but in a different way to fit the style of the RPG)

Parries somewhat successfully. 50 HP damage to Jechtael, and possibly an extra 5 damage to Tifa. Fires projectile attachment of sword at point-blank range for 40 damage and knockback to both Jechtael and Tifa. Jechtael is stunned for the next half-turn.

Tifa takes 40 HP damage from the attack and 5 HP damage reelback. Is also stunned for a half turn >.<

In which case Tifa allows herself to be ready to dodge the next move. (hope that's acceptable)

OOC: Perfectly acceptable.

Jechtael activates spell: Shield. Fully blocks one attack (not one round, one attack), and has a 50% damage decrease for three rounds after casting.

OOC: I'm not sure if shield should be a second- or third-level spell, do you remember the MP cost of Shield as compared to other spells in the games, like FFX? Actually, the KBA Shield has the effects of both types of Shield spells (1-hit and duration), so i'll just make it 3rd-level unless you disagree.

OOC: Shield spells usually only cost about the same as a level 1 or 2 spell, even the higher quality ones. So I'll say level 2 cost in future since that would seem fair. It's up to you if you want to reduce your MP cost for that last shield move, I'll allow it total effectiveness anyway.

Having dodged, Tifa could see that Jechtael had activated a shield. "Very clever move" she mused. Knowing it might not have much effect, Tifa performed physical attack Beat Rush. Jechtael takes no damage, therefore Tifa becomes status effect rage, decreasing her accuracy.

OOC: Okay, i had debated between level 2 and 3, since you say it should be level 2 at most, even powered up, I can accept retroactively reducing the cost.

Gyah! Danger, danger, Hastega! Moves toward perimeter of arena, away from ice patch. Uses Hastega-granted extra action (1st turn only) to use a potion for +100hp.

OOC: Should stuff like ice patches have a time limit before they start having a reduced effect and disappear, or should they stay until something else negates the effect?

OOC: yeah I say 5 turns, then one turn of reduced action, then gone. Should work.

Fires bladegun (OOC: seriously, I need to think of a more accurate name than laser gunblade, and less FFVIII-gunblade than just gunblade). 80% of usual accuracy at this range, damage decreased to 35, with two chances to hit, as I use two moves this turn to attack. (out of 2-3 actions possible, pending circumstances)

OOC: Really? 10 HP? Cura should be worth more than that, even cast by a fighter-type (FFVII fighter).

OOC: It doesn't say anywhere that cure spells heal ten HP (in fact, I seem to have completely neglected to put healing values on cure spells). It does, however, say that level 2 healing spells cost 10 MP.

Dodge. Hastega still in effect. Ypu'll have to get close and attack on the same turn, those slow or medium-speed long-range attacks won't work against Hastega. Damage caused to arena (permanent, will last to end of battle), small crater. I'll have to watch out for that while I'm still in Haste mode.
Uses spell Aeroja (attack) on Tifa. 180 damage for hit, divided amongst 18 10-HP gusts. Will chop up field around Tifa regardless of whether it hits. (man, never summon a cactuar to fight a blue mage character. 1000 needle will take you out in 2 turns, max.)

Uses Dolphin Kick, if taken will inflict 60 HP damage, if dodged will still take 30 HP because it's a close range attack like you said.

Gyah. 60 HP damage, direct hit. I use my increased speed while I can to get as far away as I can on this turn, both from Tifa and from the copped-up field area from using aeroja.

OOC: Sure, after the battle I'll have to add a listing for cure spell effects, find a decent balance.

Uses Flood (level 4 spell/asentient summon). Does 120 damage for a direct hit, 100 for a defended hit, and cannot be dodged except by using Dragoon/Lancer Jump ability or flight/levitation. Will fill shallow crater left by Aeroja, if crater is deeper than Tifa's shoulder height, it will cause a fatigue check for water damage each turn until Tifa leaves crater. If crater is less deep, it will slow her down while in the flooded area. Will also affect Jechtael the same. If less than a foot and a half deep, will cause a small chance of tripping for 5HP damage and loss of two actions in a turn (falling and standing). Water will drain away four turns from the start of this turn.

Tifa takes 100 damage as she managed to defend herself this time, although flood causes water level to rise above her shoulder height, inflicting fatigue check of 5 HP until Tifa gets out.

I'll use this turn to concentrate on getting out, should take one more turn after that.

Uses item Potion to regain 100 HP. Waits. (OOC: You can use stronger potions, just so you know, and HP maximum isn't 1000, that's just the starting point. Potions are just more limited the more they heal.)

Takes full hit since Hastega wore off, 60 HP damage. Better step this up a bit....

Casts Meteor, level 3 spell but will less effect since I'm a fighter type. Will cause 150 damage if a full hit, 100 damage as a graze since Meteor generally has a good accuracy. Cost of 50 MP? (OOC: can't remember)

Hit for 150 damage. Uses item: Potion and Item: Crystal Fragment to heal for 100 and cause ice damage of 60 HP (partially blockable by physical means, fully blockable by magical means, but not able to be dodged). If Tifa is still in water, may have increased effect and/or slow effect.

Takes a decreased amount of 50 HP due to blocking. Plus I got out of the water so I'm not affected by slow.

Uses Falcon Punch (OOC lol I'm running out of attacks >.<) to inflict 50 HP damage if taken fully, 30 HP damage if blocking. Can be fully dodged.

Full 50 HP damage, I wasn't paying attention. Too busy thinking a couple of minutes into the future.
Uses an underhand strike with end of gun sword for 40 HP blunt object damage, firing at the end of the attack for 45 damage. Shot could only be dodged if strike was dodged or deflected. Strike only does 30 damage if partioally blocked, 0 damage if fully blocked, and 35 sword damage if deflected.

Deflects sword damage to take 35 HP, but also takes 45 HP damage from shot. Makes me wish I had a weapon >.<

Uses last of MP (10) to cast thundara (level 2), inflicting 60 HP of damage, cannot be dodged, can be blocked though in which case it would inflict 20 HP damage.
