why doesn't she let you play?

It's because usually when we play FF games we play them together, either with separate files or sharing a file, so we kinda help each other along. My mum is really fussy when it comes to battle systems, and she's decided that FFVIII is not her style (quote- "where the F*$^ is the MP!?!?), too complicated apparently. She's also has been griping about the story ever since I started (although she likes Zell, pah).

Basically she's shunned the game as she did with FFX (don't even get me started ), so because she won't play it with me, and she owns the PS1, I have to play what she says ie. not FFVIII or X. It's a major pain in the ass since I really like those games- I was admittedly avoiding FFVIII once or twice but I like the story and want to do it for that reason

I don't know, though I think it was a total crime! It took away so much of the comedy value- Brock gettting dragged away from women by Misty is so much funnier than Brock getting dragged away by Max

Why did pokemon stop being as awesome after the first season?

For me it got annoying when they started adding a gazillion new pokemon, though yeah Orange Island sucked too. I guess they run out of ideas so they thought "hmm, let's have new pokemon and, er, dancing".

Why do Advanced Battle and the one after it (the name eludes me) suck even worse?

I have no clue. I stopped watching halfway through the second season...and I always just get one of the two new gameboy games, because there is nothing better than pokemon to fill in the boring spots of time.

Why do I seem to always have an inkling to listen to the pokemon first movie soundtrack nowadays?

It was rather a good soundtrack, I liked that version of the main theme, with that unknown popstar singing it, it rocked in it's own way!
