Japanese, it's more useful in modern gaming and technology, plus I like to read stuff in the original language and would like to do so with manga (and more consistently listen to anime) as well as import FF games, though in europe, and looking more along the lines of fine arts than gaming and technology, it may be a better idea to study German first.

Ummm, depends on the element or the non-elemental spell. Non-elemental spells tend to be rather strong, like Flare or Mega (in games where it is a stand-alone attack spoell, and not a modifier), but, for example, holy (a light-ish spell) does significant damage to most monsters and humanoids and some spirit-type creatures in most games. I suppose I would have to say non-elemental spell.

Holy or Ultima?

Ultima, some stupid monsters can absorb Holy, the bards!!

Long life or fast life?

Long life. I enjoy reading, so a long life would be more advantageous to me than a fast life, no matter how much more interesting it is in the short term. (plus I would like to see how video games progress after the next seven to ten years)
